Reducing COVID-related PTSD symptoms in Frontline Healthcare Workers through Trauma-Focused Treatmen
Project type
Implementation Trial
Date
2022-2026
Location
Emory University SOM with University of Michigan
Lead by with Dr. Sripada's team, this project works to address COVID-19-related PTSD symptoms among healthcare workers and other vulnerable populations. The overall objective in this application is to test the effectiveness and identify barriers and facilitators of implementation for PE-PC in healthcare system EAPs. The central hypothesis is that PE-PC delivered by EAP therapists will reduce COVID-19-related PTSD symptoms, as compared with EAP treatment as usual, among frontline healthcare workers. Our hypothesis is formulated based on our previous work demonstrating the efficacy of PE-PC among military personnel (Cigrang 2017) and our preliminary findings of elevated PTSD symptoms among healthcare workers in the Detroit area, one of the epicenters of the COVID pandemic.
